No. All hunts are operated as day hunts. We recommend utilizing this link with Visit Casper to find accommodations. Their page provides a filter for locations that will accept pets. Or alternatively recommend utilizing services like AirBnB or VRBO to book stays that support locals within our community.

Yes, however, we don’t always advise it. Many of the roads frequently traveled are rough dirt or two tracks through Wyoming’s high desert and forest. If you prefer to drive your own vehicle please be prepared for off road travel and expect to burn at least a half a tank of gas per day. We advise you top off your tank before we head out of town. Buffalo Creek Outfitter’s is not responsible for any damage caused to your vehicle during your trip.

Depending on the species of bird you would like to target driving time is approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours on average.

Yes! We encourage hunters to bring their dogs with them as long as they maintain realistic expectations. If your dog has never hunted wild birds it would be unrealistic for them to not bust a few coveys. If they have never hunted in rocky arid environments it would not be uncommon for them to have sore feet at the end of the day. Wild birds are the best teachers. Our preference is to have at least one of our guide dogs on the ground but we are open to hunting just your dogs or mixing them in with ours. No dogs? No problem. We have plenty of guide dogs on our string to run multiple dogs for multiple days.

Absolutely! If you are new to hunting or just inexperienced we welcome you to join us in the field. These guided hunts are 100% wild birds so we caution you to set realistic expectations. Don’t expect to bag a limit of birds if you’re not an expert with your firearm, a disclosure every hunting guide should give! However, by the end of your trip our guides will make sure you have gained the experience and knowledge to go out and pursue upland game on your own.

In Wyoming, all hunters are required to have completed hunter safety unless they are participating in the hunter mentorship program. Wyoming accepts hunter safety certificates from all U.S. states, the territories of Guam and Puerto Rico, all Canadian provinces, Mexican states, and a few other countries provided they meet the minimum standards established by the International Hunter Education Associates.

Blaze orange is not a requirement for hunting wild birds in Wyoming. However, we will be hunting public lands during concurrent big game seasons. For your safety your guide advises wearing at least one article of blaze orange.

If we had to pick just one to recommend it would be a 20 gauge shotgun with a modified choke and 6 shot for all upland birds but realistically any gun you shoot well is the gun you should bring. If you bring a semi auto please note, to be legal in Wyoming it must have a plug and only accept two rounds in the magazine.

Not necessarily but your overall fitness will play a significant role in the amount of ground that we are able to cover and covering a lot of ground on public land holds tons of opportunities to quickly think on your feet. Hunting with Buffalo Creek Outfitters means you will be hunting in the rugged and rural lands of the least populated state in America. That might mean hiking several miles of hills, canyons, basins and or mountains during a trip. Trail surfaces could include dirt, grass, and rocky uneven terrain. Hikes in mountainous terrain could include significant elevation gain. That said, we strive to pace hikes to the groups fitness level and take plenty of breaks. If you are questioning your physical condition please reach out.

There is a possibility but we’ve yet to have anyone experience any significant issues. Be cautious of altitude sickness if you're coming from a lower elevation, especially if you are coming from sea level. Altitude sickness can easily be avoided by taking the right precautions. Consider arriving in Casper (elevation 5,150ft) 24 hours in advance to allow your body time to gradually acclimate to the reduced oxygen levels. This early arrival will allow you to spend a day at a moderate elevation before potentially heading up into higher elevations for hunting (roughly 8,200-8,500ft). If you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, avoid drinks that cause dehydration, take in plenty of electrolytes, and eat light, easily digestible and nutritious meals and snacks, you'll be just fine.

Rain, snow, clouds, or blistering hot sunshine, our dedication to your trip is unwavering. Only under the most extreme weather conditions will we reschedule your adventure. Some conditions may dictate an early stop or a late start. Safety for all is maintained as a top priority. Additional gear recommendations will be sent via email in the event of inclement weather. Please anticipate to plan accordingly.

We would be happy to, all you have to do is ask! We promise to tell all your friends you shot them all.
